Pancho Villa from a Safe Distance is a bilingual, cross-border opera about the enigmatic general, legendary bandit, and hero of the Mexican Revolution. Commissioned by Ballroom Marfa, the project is the third installment of The Marfa Triptych, a genre-hopping trilogy of musical performances composed by Graham Reynolds. Created with librettists Largartijas Tiradas al Sol (Mexico City) and director Shawn Sides (Rude Mechs), the work is currently touring, with an eight-piece ensemble built around Grammy-Award winning Adrian Quesada on guitar and Graham Reynolds on keys.
